Rivers First Lady- My husband lends me his note, read their love story as they celebrate 17th anniversary.

Nyesom Wike and his wife are celebrating their 17th wedding anniversary today. His wife, Justice Suzzette, this morning shared their love story which started at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology. Read below...
It's funny how life sometimes takes us where we never plan or expect to go. For three years, we sat in the same lecture rooms and halls but never passed a word between each other.

It was only after I chanced upon his law note books in the possession of a mutual classmate that everything changed.

At that time, the law books in our library were expired and in most cases not available and we had to find other means to report our Nigerian case law. Most of us resorted to copying from others who had lawyer friends they visited in chambers and while there, used their law reports/books.

Thankfully, the situation is different today as not only has our Governor completed the long, abandoned building of the Facaulty of Law, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, but he has also furnished it and equipped the law library with modern books, law reports and even e-resources. The current students there are lucky to benefit from this upgrade as theirs is now a standard Facaulty of Law.

It surprised me then, to realize that he was indeed a serious minded student and not as I had earlier perceived. His notes were up to date as he took time to report more cases than were cited by our lecturers, which neccesarily meant better grades if you can put them all down in your answer sheets during tests and examinations.

I immediately coveted that notebook and pleaded with my classmate to loan me the book after she had finished, promising to return it in two days. She refused. Another request with the promise to return it in one day as I was prepared to sit up all night copying those cases, was declined . My last plea to photocopy the notebook and return it immediately fell on deaf ears. She told me to seek the permission of the owner, with the belief that I wouldnt dare.

And of course, she was right to think that as she knew that we had never once spoken to each other. At that point, I inquired from her, his name. She replied simply: "Wike". I wondered how odd that name sounded as I'd never heard it before. I also wondered how to approach him as I believed that he disliked me as much as I did him.

But the desire to have that fully loaded note book was too strong. I could not give up without at least, making an attempt. As he passed by us, I called his name as I had just learnt: "excuse me, Wike". He froze and I noticed his shock and disbelief. I started putting my words together, expecting him to scowl at me, thinking in his head - "Oh! So you have decided to talk to me now that you need my notebook eh?

He didn't let me complete my request. He caught the drifrt so fast and he spoke to our mutual classmate, telling her to give me his note book after she had finished with it and he walked off. It was now my turn to be in shock! After I recovered, I started putting the heat on our classmate to give me the book asap.

One borrowed book led to another and yet another borrwed book and soon after, we became friends. I got to see the hardworking, focused, studios and serious minded person he was and still is. Before Iong, there was a marriage proposal. I declined as I didn't see myself as the marrying kind but he wouldn't give up.

He said to me that the moment he first set his eyes on me when he joined us in our second year out of the more than five years I was in that institution, he knew already that I was going to be his wife. ðŸ˜„ That got me even more confused. Having noted all the qualities I had noticed in him, I knew that he was a man with very great prospects or potentials for success, as I'd told him then.

I therefore decided to accept his proposal and took a chance, believing that he would make me a happy woman. Today, the 19th of December, marks the 17th year we have been together as a married couple. He is a man that has exhibited excellent taste .... no wonder he chose and continues to choose m.

You promised to give me the world at that time but you have given me much more than I could have ever asked for. Our three adorable children are a testimony to that fact and I can't tell you enough, how fulfilled I feel.

Please permit me to use this medium to share some of the life lessons I have learnt in these past 17 years of marriage, especially in reaching out to encourage our youths who have skewed perceptions about marriage.

You have to make the right decision about your marriage. I made a decision to become a happy wife 17 years ago, by contributing to build a happy marriage. I learnt that marriage in itself doesn't make you happy. You have to make your marriage a happy one. Marriage is not what you get. Marriage is what you bring, what you give and what you do.

There is no perfect marriage or perfect couples. Rather, when two imperfect friends honour and celebrate each other, they are empowered to build up a great blossoming marriage with flourishing children.

Marriage, it has been said, is likened to an empty box that couples sho
uld labour to fill up with all the good things they want in their marriage - friendship, understanding, respect, love, etc. Love does not come packaged with any marriage. Love is in people and people put love in marriage. People infuse romance in marriage. Same thing with all the other values.

A couple must practice the art and form the habit of giving, loving, serving, forgiving, rewarding, praising, and just keeping the marriage box full always. If you take more and put less, the box empties out.

Let us challenge ourselves to work harder at achieving happier marriages. It will lead to more harmonious homes and communities and eventually a more prosperous and peaceful Rivers State. That is how powerful and endowed married couples are.

I recall, after we became engaged, attending a conference at Christ Church in December, 1996 where Selwyn Hughes, the initiator of the daily devotional called "every day with Jesus" featured and spoke to the young ones (at that time😄) about marriage. I bought his book then titled: Marriage as God intended

Rev. Mossy Madugba authographed the book on his behalf and on my request as it wasn't possible for me to meet the author after the occasion. He wrote these words on the first page - "Blossom where you are planted". Indeed, I can say without any fear of any contradiction, that by the grace of God, I have blossomed and will keep blossoming where the Lord, God has planted me.

Today, on this occasion of our 17th marriage anniversary, I celebrate my hardworking classmate, friend, lover and husband... Nyesom Ezenwo Nyesom Wike CON. We have been through thick, thin and thinner but just like old wine, it keeps getting better with time.

Happy 17th Marriage Anniversary to you, my love. May we forever stay young in each others eyes.

Tiwa savage is not my friend - Yemi Alade

Yemi Alade has said she doesn't consider Tiwa Savage a friend. During an interview with Punch, Yemi was asked about her relationship with Tiwa Savage, Seyi Shay and Chidinma.

Her reply:
I don’t know why the media takes pleasure in pitting great women against one another. Have you ever seen any text message from any of us lambasting another person? There’s no proof of these things; it’s just in the imagination of people. I’ve never stoppedworking and I was already working before Tiwa Savage came to Nigeria. I am a fan of their music, and on my Snapchat page, I usually dance to their songs.
I do not consider Tiwa Savage a friend because I don’t know her favourite colour or meal and other intimate things. She is just my colleague.
On her relationship, Yemi said:
Other than being an entertainer, I have my personal life. If I’m going to be in a relationship with someone in the same profession with me, I’d have to be deeply in love with the person’s personality. If the personality suits me, why not? Personally, I think I’m a reserved and nice girl. I’m also a hopeless romantic; movies easily make me cry. The last movie that made me cry was a cartoon in which a little dinosaur lost his mum.

Natural hair blogger,Ijeoma Eboh shares adorable photo of herself and her beau.

Ijeoma Eboh a Natural hair blogger, and content creator is the founder of klassykinks.com
Through her blog, Ijeoma provides motivational  Images, Videos and Social media content that encourages Black women to embrace their natural hair texture via proper maintenance and versatile styling.

Kemi Lewis- I quit my career in Law to become a Stylist

Kemi Lewis Founder and CEO of KLs Natural, an outfit that specialises in natural hair growth products and services for women. In a chat session with YETUNDE OLADEINDE of THE NATIONS newspaper, recounts how she found an alternative career and how it has made life more fulfilling for her.
What motivated the creation of KLs Naturals?
KL’s Naturals was created in 2013. A combination of factors and play of circumstances led to its creation. I had recently moved back to the country and was trying to find my feet work wise. As a lawyer, I had tried to find work but for some reason no matter how many interviews I had gone to, it didn’t seem to be happening. I also had a desire to start my own business which seemed to burn brighter with each passing day. Around this time, a friend of mine had just started her own business, so I went to visit in order to bounce ideas off her and also to get some sort of motivation and direction. After telling her my ideas and sharing my frustration of not finding any salons that could cater to my natural hair, she said to me, ‘Kemi, why don’t you open a natural hair salon? You have natural hair, you’ve always known how to style hair and you would instinctively know what to do.’
It was a lightbulb moment for me. I went home and started to write out a plan of what I would do – the more I wrote, the more excited I became, so I knew I was on to something.
This was in March of 2013. By August of the same year, we had opened up our Dolphin Salon.
What were the initial challenges?
Initial challenges were finding staff members that bought into my vision of a purely natural hair salon; getting the word out about what we were doing and power supply.
How did you overcome these challenges?
Reinforcing to my staff the reasons why my vision would not change or bend to accommodate them. In order to get the word out about our work I would style my hair and go to supermarkets or the mall armed with flyers – I would give them to anyone who approached me to admire my hair or any lady with natural hair I saw. People started to hear about us and also our clients always strongly referred us – lending a strong stamp of authenticity to the quality of our work.
As an SME, is it easy sourcing fund?
Luckily, I was able to start my business with what was left of my savings. I also had to cash in my life insurance policy to have extra cash. In recent times I have had cause to go to my bank to talk to them about what available funding there is for SMEs as we have started to think about expansion and it was not an encouraging conversation.
Is there anything you would like government to do to improve the economy?
Articulating that now seems almost futile seeing as the country is broke and we are where we are due to the lack of timely and effective decisions. However, I would say a diversification of the revenue base of the country would be a good starting point.
There are so many ways we could earn forex, and further develop the economy; agriculture and solid minerals readily come to mind. As individuals, we know and understand that the way to building wealth is in having multiple streams of income. So as a country, it’s heartbreaking that the keys to unlock all these doors to various income streams are staring us in the face but the government seems unwilling to take the decisive steps in moving us in the direction of economic independence.
If you had to advise young entrepreneurs, what would you tell them?
Be focused. Be deliberate. Be intentional. Work your skill till you are perfect. Work harder than any staff you have. If you’re acting as ‘oga’ and strolling in at noon every day, no one is going to take you or your business seriously.
Personnel is always an issue for many, what is your experience?
My experience has been interesting, to say the least. I have found that finding people with a good attitude and making sure you are constantly training and developing personnel, makes a world of difference.
Let’s talk about some of your role models and mentors
Definitely, Tara Fela Durotoye. I love what she has done and how she has defined herself and set herself apart within the beauty industry. I deeply admire Mrs. Ibukun Awosika and hearing her talk about how she has come this far, her perseverance, foresight and unwavering faith in God encourage and totally inspire me.
What gives you inspiration?
My desire to work out every seed God has put in me is what gives me inspiration. I want to walk in my purpose and work my purpose till I become all I was made to be.
What were you doing before this?
Believe it or not I am a lawyer. Called to the bar in January 2001, got my masters in international business transactions in 2004, got qualified as a chartered secretary in 2007 and worked as a company secretary for five years.
What other things occupy your time?
My business occupies my time mostly. There is so much that I want to achieve and create. When I’m not doing that, I love to read and listen to music.
How would you assess the performance of SMEs in the country today?
SMEs in any country play a crucial role in their economy in terms of their contribution to employment, wealth creation and poverty reduction. However, the peculiar Nigerian economy especially in recent times has seen SMEs unable to rise up and play this important role. High interest rates mean they are unable to access funds; poor infrastructure means they become mini local governments, spending more and more funds on overheads; an economic over dependence on the oil sector means there is a lack (or epileptic supply of) raw materials and a declining education system means the quality of employable personnel is on a rapid decline.

See why, Kanu Nwankwo’s brother dumped Actress Ebube Nwagbo for Linda Ikeji’s sister

Ogbonna is ex footballer Kanu Nwankwo's younger brother. But for the alimony he paid to his ex wife, who is a Briton, and who bore him two children, he would have been regarded as very rich like his brother who was a footballer in big football clubs such as Ajax, Arsenal, Inter Milan, and some other clubs.

L-R Kanu Nwankwo and Ogbonna
Ogbonna, also a footballer, played football in England and had a stint with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
His British wife dragged him to court on the ground of infidelity in 2013.
Laura and Ogbonna

Meanwhile, Ogbonna is now engaged to celebrity blogger, Linda Ikeji’s sister, Laura and very soon, the couple will announce a date for their wedding.
However, Ogbonna's relationship with actress Ebube Nwagbo wasn't  made public. It was within 2007-2008.
He reportedly dumped Ebube when he couldn’t cope with her alleged waywardness.
Though Ebube denied been dumped, she said in an interview:
“He did not dump me. We had a mutual agreement. Nobody dumped the other. The relationship did not survive. We were dating; we had a relationship. But ours was just like any other relationship. However, the press did not give us any moment of rest. They married us and divorced us on the pages of newspapers and magazines. People kept writing things that were both true and untrue about the relationship in the newspapers.”
Ebube Nwagbo

Ebube blamed journalists for the crash of the relationship.

“Oh yes, I blame journalists. They kept writing about us. Everything about me became news to them. I guess that is the price you have to pay for being a star. It was just too much. Anyway, I have learnt my lessons.

Asked if she was jealous of the girl in his life then (2008) and the pretty actress said:

“Why should I be jealous of her? I was the one that allowed her to be there in the first place. Please, there is no need for me to be envious of any babe in his life. I have moved on. It was not as if I was flaunting my relationship with Ogbonna. We were just like every other couple. But as it is now, nobody is going to know anything about my private life again.”

According to reports, Laura, a fashion entrepreneur whose business was set up for her by her blogger sister, Linda, started dating Ogbonna less than a year ago after meeting him through a mutual friend.

Ogbonna and Laura even spent their last Valentine together in Texas, United States of America. They went to Ghana where they privately celebrated Laura’s birthday on March 15, 2016.

Indians, set to take ownership of MTN Nigeria.

Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has expressed sadness over the state of the economy noting that Indians are gradually buying over MTN Nigeria.
According to Onu, not less than 75 percent ownership of MTN has been acquired by Indians.
The minister disclosed this in Abuja at the weekend during the inaugural press conference of the Computer-Based Test, (CBT) Centre Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria, (CPAN) with the theme: the impact of ICT in CBT system of examination.
Government, Onu said, does not want foreigners to take away technological opportunities meant for Nigerians.
Represented by the Assistant Director, Information Communication and Technology, (ICT) at the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Adeyemi Adebayo, the minister said: “Indians are gradually buying over MTN in Nigeria now and one of the bad things about this development is that Indians now have the capacity to administer what MTN does by physically employing Nigerians.
“They want the capacity to do that from their country and if we in Nigeria allow all these opportunities to go it will not speak well.
“Indians have now taking over not less than 75 percent of MTN and the control of MTN is not from Indian not even from Nigeria and if your association is not taken over this CBT may be Indians will come and take over CBT.
“You people are doing a great work. Government does not want people from other countries to come and take away our technology. I believe that if we have associations like CPAN, they can regroup from the telecom companies they can take back what Indians have taking away from Nigeria.
“MTN Nigeria is actually a Nigerian company, they came from South Africa but who are the people doing the work, are they not Nigerians?”
Onu said Nigeria has not adequately exploited the potentials of the Information Communication and Technology, (ICT) hence weakening the economy.
Onu said the country’s productivity capacity to compete with the world has also been weakened.
The repercussion according to the minister, is that Nigeria may not have international competitive products in the world.

White house is meant for 'grown-ups' Michelle Obama tells oprah

Michelle Obama has said America needs a
“grown-up” in the White House during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The First Lady also said the US was “feeling what not having hope feels like” following the election of Donald Trump.
Both Mrs Obama and her husband had spoken out against the billionaire tycoon on the campaign trail, saying he was “unfit” to hold office.
In candid remarks to the talk show host, the First Lady said Mr Obama had made the nation more hopeful during his eight years in office “because we feel the difference now”.
During the interview, which is set to air on CBS, Mrs Obama said the country would come to appreciate her husband.
She added: “Because we feel the difference now.
“See, now we are feeling what not having hope feels like, you know?
“Hope is necessary. It’s a necessary concept. And Barack didn’t just talk about hope because he thought it was just a nice slogan to get votes.”
Mrs Obama said: “I feel that Barack has been that for the nation in ways that people will come to appreciate.
“Having a grown-up in the White House who can say to you in times of crisis and turmoil ‘Hey, it’s going to be okay. Let’s remember the good things that we have. Let’s look at the future. Let’s look at all the things that we are building’.”
Her comments come amid continuing controversy around the deeply divisive election with claims the Kremlin had ordered cyber attacks against the defeated Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in a bid to influence the outcome.
Mrs Obama, who met the President-elect and his wife Melania at the White House after the election in November, did not mention the couple by name during the interview.
