‘I didn’t fight for my marriage and I regret it’ – Rachael Oniga

Popular actress, Rachael Oniga had a failed marriage, her husband married another woman after they had 3 kids. To deal with the heartbreak, she refused to remarry even after her husband died because she had sworn she would prove to him that she can stand without a man.
Over 20 years later, Rachael Oniga has shared her regrets about not fighting for her marriage in a new interview with Olushola Ricketts of Punch.
'I didn’t fight for my marriage and I regret it' - Rachael Oniga
Read excerpts below:
  • As a single mother with three children, how did you manage to build your acting career?
My first born, Olamide, was four years old when I left my marriage. I had to put them all in boarding schools. That is one of the most painful things I have had to do. Whenever I talk about this, it always brings me close to tears. My children paid the price for something they knew nothing about. Children don’t beg parents to have them; we ask them to come to the world, so we should be able to take good care of them. It is not all about money, but I had no choice. I had to work; I had to be a mother and a father to them. I had to make sure that they had all they needed to have. While they were in school, they didn’t lack anything. I got them all the things rich children had. I understand all I did was not enough, but I thank God for the children He blessed me with. I think God knew I had nobody but Him. In a way, he saw us through and I thank Him for that.
  • After your marriage failed, you’ve remained single for more than two decades. Why haven’t you remarried?
The factor (her late husband married another woman) that led to the end of my marriage made me determined to prove to him (ex-husband) that I could stand without any man. I was not ready to give any other man the chance to be a hindrance to my children and me. I also made up my mind that I would dedicate my life totally to my children. I toughened my heart and blocked every opportunity to go into any relationship. I saw myself as equal to any man, regardless of how much money he might have. I give God the glory because I can pay my bills. I dedicated all my life to my job and my children. I became so busy and I was not ready to take any nonsense from men.
  • Apart from s*xual intercourse, don’t you miss the companionship you share with a man?
I understand where you are going, but sometimes when a woman closes her heart, she will not give any relationship a chance. I was always on the defensive. I didn’t want any man to treat my children badly. I was working for my money and I put my kids in good schools. So, what do I need a man for? I felt all men just wanted was to see the beauty of a woman and walk away. With what my ex-husband did to me, you expect me to trust men again? Before we got separated, he was a good and ideal man. But he married another woman and I moved on. I do not regret leaving him because I sacrificed my life for my children, which makes me fulfilled and happy. But I miss the whole union thing, friendship and sharing things together. I have missed it all. My advice to young ladies is to keep and fight for their marriages. Perhaps, I was naïve; I never fought for what was mine, but I still thank God. We are in Africa, you fight for your life and that of your children first. Maybe that is why God has been merciful to me and my children.
  • Did your late husband make attempts to settle things?
There were many failed attempts. He knew the type of person I am; that when I say no, it is no. I tell people that I am like a coin with two faces. I could be stupid and forgiving. In fact, I don’t think there is anyone who forgives as much as I do; I am yet to meet such person. I could forgive or ignore anything, but once I turn my back, I would not go back there. Before death took him (ex-husband) away, he called many times and he came to the house to see his children. Once he arrived, I would pick up my bag and head to movie sets. I didn’t stop him from seeing his children though.
  • Why didn’t you fight for your marriage when you had the chance?
It was my mistake. I should have fought for it. Any young lady must try her best and fight for her marriage. My decision at that time might not have been the best, but I still thank God. I have my regrets too as a human being.
  • After death, did you wish you had taken him back?
When I make up my mind, I don’t regret it. Even if I am meeting a person for the first time, I would be so open. I am very sincere. You may betray my trust many times and I will ignore all. But once my mind is made up about you, there is nothing anyone can do to convince me otherwise.
  • Did you attend his burial?
I participated in his burial with all I had. I spent my money, energy and I even invited artistes. When he passed on, I was in America for holidays, so, I couldn’t attend the eighth-day prayers (fidau). But the children did and my late elder sister was there too. For the next 40 days, I was supportive. Though he married another wife, his family still sees me as the legal wife. I was still legally married to him as of the time he died. I gave him a befitting burial. I did all that because of my children, especially my son. Later in life, people may ask him how they buried his father. He had to bury his father well and that was exactly what I did for him. I played the part my son would have played if he was an adult. That is my joy. Sometimes, I do things and people wonder what is wrong with me, but I always have my reasons.

I Love wetting my pant, it makes me so sensual and arousing. Nigerian lady shares her addiction

A Facebook user shared some weird behaviors that she exhibits. According to her, she’s addicted to peeing deliberately in her pant.
Read what she wrote below…
I Deliberately Wet My Pant All The Time.
I am a pant wetter, and totally addicted to peeing in my pants and have been all my life. Sometimes, I think I am the only one in the world who loves pee this much. I pee in my pants everyday and all day long and I do it intentionally, kai. I do not have any physical or medical problem that makes me loose control or leak, I do it on purpose, as it makes me feel so good. In fact, I do not like to be dry very long at all or I’m always wanting to wet my pants soon.
However, I can be dry when needed (there are those times you need to be dry) but when I do wet my pants, it’s usually when am home alone (hehe)…
After years of intentionally wetting my pants, I have gotten very good at being wet and no one knowing it. I have no problem hiding it from my family and public. Again, I don’t really know what it is (I have given up trying to figure it out) but I just love peeing on myself and being nice and damp all the time. It feels so good and it’s so sensual and arousing, it turns me on, Kai.
Even as a kid, I had these feelings. Sounds weird doesn’t It? Yea, I am strange like that. Have you ever heard this from anyone else?
It’s so exciting and fun, but you would never know, until you try it.
Pee in your pant today, ighotago?

Your vagina should smell and if your man doesn't like it, dump him": Leading gynecologist tells women

"Your vagina should smell and if your man doesn't like it, dump

Dr Jen Gunter made news headlines when she went toe to toe with actress Gwyneth Paltrow to counter her claims that Vagina steaming is good for women.

Now, Dr Dunter is in the news again. This time, she's warning women who resort to buying harmful products just to give their lady parts artificial odours. She said vaginas are naturally meant to have an odour. She hit out at men who complain about the natural smell of their partner's genitals and said it is a "form of abuse".

Writing in her latest blog newsletter, the Canadian gynecologist revealed she once dumped a boyfriend for complaining about the smell of her genitals. She told women not to feel ashamed of their natural smell, instead, they should do away with any man who tries to make them do so. She went on to say that using beauty products to make the vagina smell better upsets the vagina's natural pH balance and leave women at a greater risk of infections like gonorrhoea and even HIV.

Gunter wrote in her blog: "I once dated a guy who insinuated my vagina did not smell right. He was an a** in other ways too. For example, he thought my hair would be better if it were straight. Sadly I took the bait, it wasn't. He thought I would look better if I dressed a certain way. Again I took the bait. I just felt worse. When it came around to telling me how my vagina could be better it finally clicked that this is a form of control that men often use. Fortunately I am an appropriately confident vagina expert and I had a light bulb moment and dumped his sorry a**."

The 50-year-old vagina expert has been an OB-GYN (Obstetrician and gynecologist) for years and was troubled by the diet and health tips she saw on magazines and blogs which were untrue and harmful to women who chose to adopt those practices. She began her own blog to dismantle those claims.

"I see the consequences of women doing harmful things they read about online,” Gunter said. earlier in the year when she attacked Paltrow for the unverified health information she shares on her wellness website, Goop. "It breaks my heart when I hear people tell me about all the useless therapies they’ve wasted their money on."

Dr Gunter went on in her recent blog post to urge women to not fall into the same trap she fell into when she believed her boyfriend who told her to change things about herself.

She wrote: "I realize this may border on TMI (too much information), but honestly if it happened to me I bet it has happened to other women. The continued proliferation of the what will they insert next, the products on drug store shelves, and the interest in these posts tells me that I'm probably right."

She, however, warned women that certain kind of odour might indicate a health problem.

She said: "A vagina takes care of itself. Like a self cleaning oven. The vagina needs no cleaning and the vulva needs very little. However, a strong vaginal odor – for instance, a 'fishy' smell – might be abnormal and could indicate a problem.

"If you think you have a medical condition, see a doctor. If your partner insinuates that an artificial smell is preferable to the smell of a normal vagina they are the one who has an issue. Telling women how they can be better is a classic way of tapping into body image issues and honestly in my personal opinion it is a form of abuse."

Dr Gunter has previously stressed that women should be aware that douches are unnecessary – and even dangerous – as our intimate areas are designed to clean themselves.

She once tweeted: "A vagina takes care of itself. Like a self cleaning oven."

In her recent post she wrote: "For what I am sure is the 100th time the vagina needs no cleaning and the vulva needs very little.  I know the array of useless feminine washes and wipes at the drugstore and the drivel spouted by Gwyneth Paltrow via Goop imply otherwise, but I'm the actual expert."

Dr Gunter has a strong opinion on the recent trends for women cleaning their vaginas with cucumbers and Vicks' Vaporub. She recently warned about the dangers of carrying out a 'vagina facial' using a cucumber.

Experts at the renowned Mayo Clinic echo Dr Gunter's warning and say on its website that "it's normal for your vagina to have a slight odor". It says that vaginal odor may vary throughout the menstrual cycle and may be especially noticeable right after having sex. Normal sweating also can cause a vaginal smell.
